Matthew Wattles
Lead Guitarist, 2 Days Of Funk
Born February 8th, 1989
Equipment: Gibson Les Paul Studio Plus through a Fender Blues Deluxe Amplifier
Matt has been interested in music ever since he was a child, when he put together
his parents' old record player and dusted off their untouched records. Then in his early teenage years, an old dusty record
that would catch his attention the most was his mom's Led Zeppelin IV. At that time he had a job, and from that point
forward his pay check was devoted entirely to buying CDs. His friend Dexter, who was also a guitarist, moved into town and
they both found that they enjoyed the same style of music. So it seemed natural that Matt should try guitar along with his friend.
He would later take lessons on a weekly basis with local music legend Dave Constantino
of Talas. His first guitar was a Squire Stratocaster, but he soon realized that it simply was not enough for him. So he decided to
move to a Gibson Les Paul, which he claims would not be laid down for the rest of his mid-teen years.
Matt enjoys all the music that every classic rock guitarist should enjoy like Led
Zeppelin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, The Derek Trucks
Band, The Doors, Joe Bonamassa, Santana, and many more. But in order to keep himself diverse, he also likes to check out new Indie
artists like Jose Gonzalez or listen to acoustic artists such as Tommy Emmanuel. He also likes older rap and hip-hop as well
as electronic/world music. Matt finds that he is more inspired by the previous two artists mentioned than he is the stereotypical
artists from which everyone seems to get their inspirations.
Matt is currently attending the University at Buffalo and will be going into the
Biological Sciences program. He also loves to rock climb as a hobby. For more information, become Matt's friend on
